Body, Mind, Spirit Wellness
This workshop introduces participants to mindfulness practices, breathing exercises and movement that keep girls healthy, energetic and beautiful inside and outside.
Girls will participate in a combination of health and wellness activities that help keep the body, mind and spirit aligned.
Eric Belokon is a Professor of Psychology and has been teaching at MDC for over fifteen years. He was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, came to US at the age of 10, and after high school, went to UM-JMH radiology technologist program.
While working in the field, enrolled at MDC to begin pre-med studies, had become interested in neuropsychology. Received a Ph.D and a Psy.D from Albizu University and trained at Albert Einstein Medical College. Over the years conducted research in brain-behavior relationship, worked in psychiatric settings, addiction centers, as well as maintained own clinical practice.
Teaches specialized courses in psychology and developed Psychology of Genocide and Behavioral Neuroscience courses. Dr. Belokon is a founder of the P.E.A.C.E. Center (Personal Enrichment and Collective Empowerment) where programing is focused on acquiring skills to enhance mental wellness, and learn how to bring awareness, advocacy, and action for civic action and global citizenship impact.
Asanyah spent several years in the industry and completed her MA in Design Studies at Central St. Martins in London England before returning to the States and taking a position with Macy’s Florida Division as an assistant buyer. She then taught at Miami International University of Art & Design and Broward Community College while bringing her vision [Circa24] Apparel to life.
In the most recent years, Asanyah took her love of teaching and knowledge of fashion to West Africa where she taught and consulted at schools in both Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana. She’s been invited to be a HEARCongo ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo and continues to work with the non-profit on initiatives for young women. She currently holds the position of Department Chairperson of the Miami Fashion Institute at Miami Dade College.
Asanyah started boxing in college as a form of workout and rediscovered her love of the martial arts year later when she also started kicking boxing, when time allows, she teaches aerobic Kickboxing and has been taking Boxing and Kickboxing for about 11 years.
