Janeen Jones, Brenda Mezick

Janeen Samantha Jones has dedicated 20 years of her professional life with the Office of State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle where she currently serves our beloved residents of Miami-Dade County as a Community Outreach Representative.

A Criminal Justice Major and Florida International University Alumnae, Ms. Jones appreciates the importance of upholding social control and deterring crime. During her career with the agency, Ms. Jones held the administrative position of Client Relations Coordinator for the Miami-Dade Child Enforcement Support Program, one of the largest Child Support Agencies in the State of Florida.

Within this capacity, she reviewed and handled hundreds of escalated legislative child support inquiries ensuring that children ordered to receive support get the support they deserve. Her passion for children led her to implement the first Child Support Outreach Program in Miami, Florida which aims to bring resources directly to communities in most need.

Her devotion towards improving quality of life for others has allowed her to excel in her career. On behalf of the State Attorney, Ms. Jones partners with various office and community initiatives such as the State Attorney’s North End Gun Violence Initiative and Human Trafficking Task Force, Together for Children, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and Operation Restoration.

In addition to establishing and maintaining partnerships, Ms. Jones presents services provided by the State Attorney’s Office such as the Seal and Expunction Program, Identity Theft, Bullying and Sexting presentations along with the START Program which teaches youth about the consequences of their actions. Ms. Jones is most humbled about her duty to engage with the Faith Based Community.

The State Attorney charged her with presenting the State Attorney Growth and Enrichment Program (SAGE) which allows the Faith Based Community to establish a comprehensive program that address the needs of juveniles referred in lieu of filing charges and prosecution of youth who commit very low level crimes.

Ms. Jones is also a consultant for Citrus Family Care Network’s Race Equity and Inclusion Initiative. Brenda Mezick received her law degree from Georgetown University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in English. She has been an Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit for twenty-eight years.
